Dr. Berkeley Powell is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and a member of local, state, and national Plastic Surgery societies. He is the son of two physicians and a native Houstonian. Married for 35 years, he has two children. After graduating from St. John’s School, Dr. Powell earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University, majoring in English with minors in both German & Biology. Long interested in photography and art, he has also studied line drawing, painting and sculpture.
He earned his M.D. degree from Duke University and then served as a Resident in General Surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, where he also began his Plastic Surgery training. He completed another two years of Residency in Plastic Surgery in Houston at St. Joseph Hospital. Dr. Powell also completed a Fellowship in Microsurgery. He holds a faculty appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Plastic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine where he donates time to teaching residents. He has also served as President of both the Houston Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons.
He has also been elected to Fellowship in the International College of Surgeons and the Royal Society of Medicine (England). Dr. Powell is listed in “Who’s Who in American Medicine” and has been named by his peers to Best Doctors in America.
